Macro Photography Class in Tampa

Capturing detail and using good compositional skills help to make a very dynamic macro photo

Come and learn how to take Macro shots without having to spend thousands of dollars in equipment. There are several things you need to know about lighting, magnifying, and dealing with the very narrow depth of field this type of photography presents. This class will introduce you to techniques and gear to get you shooting bugs, jewelry and gemstones, coins, and anything small.

This is a 3 hour class that will explore the equipment you need to take great shots, the techniques used to light the subject, the best camera setting to use, and the best way to enhance your images in post production (Photoshop, etc.). Prerequisites are Photo 101 or a strong working knowledge of your camera controls including setting shutter speeds, apertures, and ISO. While some people enjoy macro photography with simple point-and-shoot cameras, this class is best suited for those who are working with a camera with interchangeable lenses.

There's a whole universe of photos right under your nose. Even if you can see some of it, it's not always so easy to shoot! This is a bug found outside, (yep-he was already a gonner), super glued to a pin and shot with a macro set up

Standard macro photography equipment as well as cheaper alternatives will be discussed, and comparisons made of each. It is an interactive class. In the first section we will discuss techniques and in the second part participants will be shooting macro shots either with their own cameras or a rig provided by the instructor.

This is an intermediate class and is designed for people who have either taken the Photography 101 class or have a real working knowledge of their camera. This knowledge includes the ability to set shutter speeds and apertures on your camera.

Shooting small objects like this dart frog usually takes specialized equipment. Come and see how it's done
